Deck Restoration Melbourne
Restore Your Timber Deck Instead of Replacing It
A weathered or deteriorating timber deck does not always need to be replaced. Professional deck restoration can bring tired decking back to life by addressing the condition of the timber, removing failed or weathered coatings and preparing the surface for a new protective finish.
At Deck Revival, we assess each deck individually before recommending the appropriate restoration process. The condition of the timber, existing coating, weather exposure and previous maintenance all influence what preparation is required.
Where the timber remains structurally suitable, restoration can often significantly improve the appearance of the deck and extend its usable life without the expense and disruption of complete replacement.
What Does Deck Restoration Involve?
Deck restoration is more than simply applying another coat of oil or stain. Correct preparation is critical to achieving a durable finish.
Depending on the condition of your deck, restoration may involve professional deck cleaning, removal of deteriorated or incompatible coatings, professional deck sanding, minor preparation of damaged areas and application of a suitable protective coating.
The exact process varies from deck to deck. Deck Revival focuses on preparing the existing timber correctly before applying a new coating rather than simply covering problems with another layer of product.
Restoring Weathered & Neglected Timber Decks
Melbourne's sun, rain and changing weather conditions can gradually break down exterior timber coatings. Over time, decking can become faded, grey, dirty, patchy or begin showing areas where the previous coating is peeling or failing.
Restoring the deck before deterioration becomes severe can help protect the timber and reduce the likelihood of more extensive work being required later.
However, not every deck can or should be restored. If timber has deteriorated beyond a reasonable condition, we will explain what can realistically be achieved rather than recommending restoration where replacement is the more appropriate option.
